Job Opening: Tenure-Track Assistant Professorship in Asian Studies, UH Manoa
The School of Pacific and Asian Studies at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in Asian Studies. Applicants should have expertise in one or more regions of contemporary Asia in the fields of traditional and/or non-traditional security (e.g., issues of environment, health, food, cybersecurity, transnational crime, etc.) and be able to teach core courses in the Master of Asian International Affairs (MAIA) program (for MAIA details, see https://manoa.hawaii.edu/asianstudies/?page_id=62).   Duties and Responsibilities: 1.    Develop and teach four Asian Studies courses per year. 2.    Advise undergraduate and graduate students. 3.    Maintain an active agenda of scholarly research and publications. 4.    Participate in MAIA program-building and other service work. 5.    Work collaboratively and collegially with diverse students and faculty.   Minimum Qualifications: 1.    Earned PhD from university of recognized standing in humanities, social sciences or related field with emphasis on Asia. 2.    Research competence in an Asian language and evidence of active research agenda in Asia. 3.    Ability to develop and teach innovative interdisciplinary courses at the undergraduate level, and core courses in the MAIA program.   Desirable Qualifications: 1.    Scholars who work on any region of Asia will be considered, but those whose research examines the drivers or effects of the rise of China and/or India in Asia are particularly encouraged to apply.   To learn more and apply: please visit https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/hawaiiedu and search for position number 85093.
