The status of acculturation and cultural integration in Vietnam
The seminar titled “The status of acculturation and cultural integration in Vietnam” was held on August 28th, 2014 at USSH.   Participating in this seminar were Assoc.Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector), Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector), Assoc.Prof.Dr Mai Quynh Nam (Director of the Program KX.03-11-15) and many other scholars from VNU, the Vietnam Academy for Social Sciences, Vietnam National Academy of Politics - 1st Region, etc.   The seminar focused on clarifying the aspects of acculturation and cultural integration in Vietnam during international integration; analyzing and identifying the current status of acculturation and cultural integration in specific areas.   Some particular issues discussed were: acculturation and cultural diversity in Vietnam during the period of integration; the characteristics of cultural integration in religious areas; the impact of international integration on the preservation of national cultural identity; acculturation from the communication perspective; transformations of traditional culture of Thai people at mountainous areas, Thanh Hoa, etc.

  It was an opportunity for scholars, policy makers and practitioners in the field of culture and cultural management to share experiences and knowledge on the current status of acculturation in Vietnam. Also, various recommendations and solutions were put forth to promote the positive impact of acculturation and cultural integration on Vietnam’s sustainable development.   The seminar was part of project NKX 03.04/11-15 titled “The impact of acculturation and cultural integration on the current development of Vietnam” directed by Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Van Kim (Vice Rector). The project belonged to Program KX.03-11.15 titled “Studies on cultural and humanistic development and the improvement of human resources”.
