81 research fellows receive doctoral degrees
On December 30th 2016, USSH solemnly held the degree granting ceremony for 2016’s research fellows.   Attending the ceremony were Mr. Dao Ngoc Dung (Member of the CPV Central Committee, Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs); Mrs. Nguyen Thanh Hai (Member of the CPV Central Committee and President of the Committee for People’s Affairs); Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc (Director of Academic Affairs, VNU).   This year, USSH awarded doctoral degrees for 81 research fellows having completed their training courses, which are split into 25 specialties: Journalism, Political Science, Ho Chi Minh Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, Chinese Studies, Sino-Nom, Archaeology, History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, History and Historical Records, World History, Pre-modern and Modern world History, History of Vietnam, Theory of Linguistics, Comparative and Contrasting Linguistics, Social Psychology, Religious Studies, Dialectical and Historical Materialism, Science of Socialism, Literary Theory, North American literature, Folklore Literature, Vietnam Literature, and Sociology.   Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Vice Rector grants the doctorate degree to Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong (Faculty of Oriental Studies)   On behalf of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (USSH's Vice Rector) congratulated on the success of the new PhD degree holders, and expressed his appreciation to all of the Professors, Associate Professors and Doctors, who made direct contributions to USSH's achievements in postgraduate training.   Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan also expressed his hope the new PhD recipients will continue to get more accomplishments on their progress, by combining their acquired knowledge with their current occupation, so they can contribute even more to the University and society at large.

  Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc confirmed that VNU pays special attention to and always looks for solutions to improve the quality of postgraduate training, especially the training of PhD's candidates. For the very doctors trained by USSH will serve as representation and testament to VNU's training and research quality. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc also hoped that the new Doctors will not only promote their knowledge and capacity but also recognize and express their pride for having studied at a university of more than 100 years old, which constantly affirms its reputation and fame among regional and global universities.
