On July, the Cybernetrics Lab announced the second Webometrics rankings of 2019.   According to the second edition of the Webometrics rankings released in July 2019 by the Cybernetrics Lab, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) has climbed 77 places up from the 1090th (January 2019) to 1013thplace globally. Notably, for the first time, the VNU index of digital resources (Presence) was placed 338thglobally thanks to VNU’s considerable investment in the development of digital resources for training, research and university governance.               By other criteria such as Visibility/ Impact, Openness, Excellence, VNU was ranked 1456th, 1635th and 1231stglobally, respectively.   The above rankings show that the quality of VNU international scientific publication as well as the scope of the influence of VNU's online resource system in 2019 has improved and increased strongly.   Previously, in June, 2018, VNU was listed among the world’s top 1,000 universities for the first time, according to Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS). Ranked by criterion, VNU was featured in the world’s Top 500 according to its employer reputation and faculty/student ratio.   Ranking indicators are specified with the following weights:   1. Presence (5%): the index of digitized resources published online. Its data are taken from Google. This is an evaluation index of website size and digital resources of universities.   2. Visibility/Impact (50%): The total number of unique external links received (inlinks) by a site can be obtained from Ahrefs and Majestic. This is an indicator to evaluate the influence of university website system.   3. Openness/Transparency (10%): the index of citations of the top 100 university scientists with profiles on Google Scholar (not including citations from the 5 most cited scientists). Its data are taken from Google. This is an indicator of the university's academic spread.   4. Excellence/Scholar (35%): the index of school articles in the group of the 10% most cited articles in 26 academic field groups in the Scopus database (2013-2017 period). Its data are taken from the Scopus database. This is an indicator of the quality of the university's top research projects.
